CERAMICS INSTRUCTOR Dick Lang Dick has been making pots since 1973 after earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Alfred College of Ceramics, Alfred, NY. He was a student of Val Cushing, Robert Turner, Daniel Rhodes, Wally Higgins, Bill Parry, Glenn Zweygardt, and Bill Underhill. “My work has gone through quite a few changes over the years. I started with stoneware and in 1981 I switched to porcelain. The past few years I am back to primarily stoneware fired in my gas kiln. Even though I try many different techniques and ideas, simplicity and elegance have always been the things I strive for. I like simple forms, clean lines and for the most part, glaze in subtle colors without painted designs. Many of my pots are related to forms and colors I see in our surrounding environment.” Dick has exhibited at many fine craft shows and galleries and he has been honoured with many awards. He has taught classes and workshops off and on during his career. He is a full time studio potter and sells his work from his studio as well as in galleries and shows.
