Saturday,
September 13th
11:30AM - 2:30PM
Join printmaker and artist, Jillian Sokso for a workshop in Gelatin Monotype Print Making.
This exciting and versatile process requires no printing press and uses water-soluble inks, such as water-based block printing or monotype inks, and paints, gouache, tempera, and watercolor. Gelatin monotypes are so versatile that they can resemble traditional printmaking techniques, but what makes the process really exciting are the surprises that come with using such an unusual material. The prints are pulled from a matrix or plate of gelatin that gets slippery with ink, resulting in painterly, fluid-looking prints, rather than very precise ones. Also, as you continue to work with the gelatin, it starts to give off moisture, which mixes in with the inks, adding fluidity and translucency. Join Jillian in September to learn a new process of creating interesting ideas with an exciting medium. In conjunction with this workshop, Jillian will have an exhibit of her work on our Coffee House walls from September 1-30.
