February 25th - March 24th, 2008
(No Classes Week of March 10)
6:00pm - 8:15pm
Class Meets Each Monday for 4 Weeks
This is an excellent introduction to the diverse medium of printmaking led
by one of the area’s leading print makers, Robert Lake. You will
learn centuries old techniques of relief printing, specifically woodblock,
and printmaking in general. Students will learn about the tools, materials,
carving sequence and printing methods. Everyone will have the opportunity
to experience carving and printing their own image. There is no need
for a printing press, therefore this technique is excellent for learning
a print process that you can continue to practice after the workshop
is over. Students will create at least two blocks made from their own
drawings along with several prints of each.
Robert received his MFA from the University of Delaware and his BFA
from SUNY Buffalo. He has worked as an adjunct professor with the University
of Delaware and as an art instructor with the Spotsylvania County Schools.
Robert has been working in printmaking for 25 years and has exhibited
widely throughout the northeast.
