An
Introduction to Writing Children's Books
Mondays, October 6th - November 10th
6:00PM - 8:15PM
Whether a beginning writer or a published working author, this six week course will be a rewarding experience, helping you attain career goals or brush up on skills with other lovers and writers of children’s literature. The course is based on reading and writing assignments, with some in-class writing, followed by critiques. Subjects covered will be: A Writer’s Toolbox; Genres; Picture Books; Show, Don’t Tell, Making the Story Come to Life; Plot, Beginnings and Endings, Character Webbing; Voice and Points of View, The Submission Process. There will be generous time for discussion and handouts of printed resource material.
SUSAN WILLIAMS BECKHORN
Susan Williams Beckhorn is the author of five children's books, two of
which she illustrated, as well as numerous magazine stories and articles.
Susan holds an MA in English Education and a BFA from Alfred University.
She has taught writing in mentoring programs, at the annual Rochester
Children's Book Festival at Monroe Community College, and served on the
faculty of the Highlights Foundation Conference for Children's Writers
and Illustrators at Chautaqua in July, 2008.
