GENRE: Bluegrass

BIOGRAPHY:

What started as a routine experiment has turned into a revolutionary project, henceforth known as The Hickory Project. The band features hard-driving traditional and original bluegrass with the expert licks of 1999 National Mandolin Champion Anthony Hannigan, guitarist/vocalist Danny Shipe, banjoist David Cavage and bassist Steve Belcher providing the foundation for an outstanding performance.

The Hickory Project is globally acclaimed. They have captivated audiences throughout Europe, Australia and all through the U.S. As musical ambassadors Hickory Project is taking their music worldwide. In addition to touring and recording, this Pennsylvania-based band also promotes their own festival, Hickory Fest, which takes place each August in their hometown, Wellsboro, PA. In 2004, they were honored by being selected to showcase at the IBMA World of Bluegrass for thousands of professionals in the music industry.

The Hickory project has now produced 1 DVD and 6 CDs under their own label, Hickory Productions. They have captured that youthful, soul-felt hunger to please their audiences worldwide. Whether it is straight-forward traditional or a flare for the new realm in acoustic music, the Hickory Project is gaining ground. As they disseminate their music and build a loyal fan base, they are being recognized in bluegrass circles as an up-and-coming group to watch. "...dazzling new acoustic music flavored with a twist of sassy bluegrass. This is exciting, adventurous stuff! You'll be hearing a lot more about The Hickory Project." -Joe Ross, BLUEGRASS NOW, Roseburg, OR.
