GENRE: Americana, bluegrass, folk and country

BIOGRAPHY:

Robin and Linda are joined by Jim Watson on Bass and Chris Brashear on fiddle. They are supported by their frequent appearances on American Public Radio’s ‘A Prairie Home Companion’.

They have cultivated their broad-based audiences in Americana, bluegrass, folk and country markets as regulars on American Public Radio's A Prairie Home Companion and with their appearances on Austin City Limits, Mountain Stage, All Things Considered, The Grand Ole Opry, Music City Tonight, Old-Time Country Music, E-Town and Nashville Now. Plus, they've released nearly 20 albums and toured for
many years from coast to coast.

They were prominently featured in the 2006 movie A Prairie Home Companion, directed by Robert Altman. They also released four recordings since 2004: Deeper Waters in 2004, The First Christmas Gift in 2005, Radio Songs in 2007 and Buena Vista in September 2008.

As for their latest recording, I have some exciting news to report: Just a month after its release, Buena Vista was the #1 most played album on folk radio. Of 39 top recording folk artists for October 2008, a list that includes Pete Seeger, Joan Baez, Emmylou Harris, Bob Dylan, Dar Williams, Tom Paxton, Jackson Browne, Richie Havens, Greg Brown and Arlo Guthrie, Robin and Linda Williams were at the top.

Perhaps these two reviews can explain the airplay buzz over Robin and Linda's latest release. The October 2008 issue of FolkRoots magazine calls it "extremely well crafted, both lyrically and melodically," adding that "Robin and Linda contribute 11 really excellent original songs, nicely understated harmony singing, and some solid guitar work." And the January 2009 issue of Vintage Guitar magazine calls it "a new high point in the careers and music of Robin and Linda Williams," specifically citing "stellar original songs and indelible performances."

Currently they will be featured in the documentary film “The Man in Red Shoes” about Garrison Keillor which will be aired on PBS’ Great Performances during the summer of 2009. They are also featured on a soundtrack for the documentary film, “Appalachia, Music from Home” which will be aired on PBS in April of 2009.
